Thoughts, Adventures, & Experiences — The Game of Golf.

“Golf is the closest game to the game we call life. You get bad breaks from good shots; you get good breaks from bad shots — but you have to play the ball where it lies.”

Bobby Jones

Golf is the girl I’ve never quite got it right with. I was bored with her as a child, began to notice her as a boy, awkwardly pursued her in high school, left her as a young man, and now realize the love I have for her as an adult.”

Justin Harris

^ That is the most pathetic thing I’ve ever written. Still yet, it’s oddly true. I was never interested in golf when my father would try to take me to the range as a young kid, and it wasn’t until late middle school that I finally developed a taste for the game. Basketball was always the sport I spent my time with, whereas golf was more of a hobby I wished I was better at. The first job I ever officially held was working at the local golf club down the street from my family’s home. I worked at that golf club off and on for about three years, and during that time I developed a love/hate relationship with the game of golf, the golfers who play it, and the game’s pretentious atmosphere. One thing I’ve never hated — the course. Time spent on a golf course is always time well spent. There is rarely a better feeling than walking down lush green fairways on a perfect sunny day. These serene interactions with nature will always keep me coming back.

Why am I writing? And why are YOU reading?

Golf embodies so many attributes that I love: physical challenge, mental challenge, strategy, competition, pressure, self-control, patience, integrity, tranquility, and friendship. Clearly, this list could go on endlessly with adjectives, adverbs, and nouns describing seemingly every aspect of the game of golf. Through this blog I hope to document and share how some of these attributes play out in my life, and the experiences that golf gives me along the way.
